Description

Arctic Energy Balance System L18 EN

Arctic Energy Balance System L18 EN is an energy generation and management system designed for medium-sized detached houses and small commercial properties in Nordic conditions.
The system minimizes the use of expensive purchased electricity and eliminates peak power charges by combining a large battery, intelligent automation, and correctly sized solar capacity.
Recommended annual consumption: approximately 15,000–20,000 kWh (Northern Europe).

With a adjustable, modest 5 kW grid connection, the system can temporarily support simultaneous loads exceeding 15 kW by utilizing the power reserve of the battery and inverter.

It provides stability, savings, and predictability throughout the year — not only on sunny days.

Technical Specifications

  • Inverter power: 18 kW (three-phase)

  • Solar panels: 5 kWp

  • Battery storage: 45 kWh usable capacity

Key Features

  • Three-phase inverter
Distributes load evenly across phases and ensures stable, reliable operation.

  • Large battery system:

    • enables the use of solar energy also during nighttime

    • can eliminate peak power charges entirely

    • ensures uninterrupted power supply during grid outages

  • Intelligent energy management
Predicts consumption and utilizes the lowest electricity market prices.
The system charges the battery during low-cost periods, prioritizes solar energy whenever available, and limits grid power draw to avoid peak power charges.

The system is designed primarily to optimize self-consumption and power management, not for exporting solar electricity to the grid.

Additional Features

  • Real-time monitoring and automatic restart ensure uninterrupted operation.

  • Solar panels: 30-year warranty provides long-term reliability.

  • Mounting systems: suitable for both roof-mounted and ground-mounted installations.

  • Included accessories: all required cables and installation materials are supplied.

Usage & Setup

Our hybrid solar energy system is designed not only to produce clean electricity, but also to use it smarter. Unlike traditional systems that simply feed solar energy into the grid, this solution combines advanced algorithm-based energy management with battery storage to maximize savings and independence.

Seasonal challenges and intelligent optimization

In most parts of Europe, solar production naturally decreases during the winter months, just when electricity consumption is at its peak. At the same time, market (spot) electricity prices fluctuate widely from hour to hour. Our integrated algorithm monitors both your solar production and real-time electricity prices, ensuring that the system always chooses the most cost-efficient energy source.

That means:

  • When electricity is cheap, the system may temporarily use grid power.
  • When solar is available, it is prioritized.
  • When electricity prices spike, stored energy from the battery takes over.

This dynamic balancing can reduce your energy bill significantly, compared to a standard solar-only installation.

The importance of battery storage

The battery is not just an accessory – it is the key to unlocking the full potential of solar power. Without storage, much of the daytime production is exported to the grid at a low rate, while in the evening you must buy electricity back at a higher price.

By storing surplus energy, the battery lets you:

  • Shift solar energy to evening and night use
  • Avoid expensive peak-hour electricity costs
  • Increase self-consumption of solar power from ~30–40% up to 70–80%
  • Achieve nearly double the practical benefit of your solar investment
  • Ensures uninterrupted power supply during grid outages

Example calculation (for illustration)

  • A household or a company with 18 kW solar panels produces about 30,000 kWh or more per year in Málaga, Spain.
  • Without a battery, around 12,000 kWh must be sold back to the grid at a low price, leaving only 18,000 kWh for self-use.
  • With a 40 kWh battery, self-use can increase to 26,000–30,000 kWh.
  • At an average electricity price of €0.25/kWh, that is a €1,700–1,800 higher annual saving, compared to solar alone.

Practical setup

  • The system automatically manages charging and discharging, no manual input required.
  • Monitoring is available via app and web portal (RS485/RS232/WiFi).
  • Works with both single-phase and three-phase grid connections.
  • Can be installed for both residential and commercial use.

Example Savings Calculation

This example shows how battery storage changes the economics of solar power. Without a battery, much of the production must be exported cheaply to the grid, and the same amount must be bought back later at higher prices. Even if you use all your solar energy without batteries, you typically still need to buy an equal amount of electricity.

Please note that the example calculation applies to equipment that produces 12,000 kWh per year.

Scenario Solar Production
(kWh/year)
Self-Used
(kWh/year)
Exported
(kWh/year)
Grid Purchase
(kWh/year)
Estimated Savings (€)
Without Battery 12,000 7,000 5,000 ~8,000 ≈ €1,250
With 20 kWh Battery 12,000 9,500 2,500 ~2,500 ≈ €2,450
If 100% Used Without Battery
(daytime only)
12,000 12,000 0 Evening & Winter: +7,000 → ~19,000 ≈ €0 extra (must still buy back at night)

Result: Without a battery, every kWh you ”save” during the day often needs to be bought back later at a higher price. With storage, you actually keep and use your own solar energy – almost doubling the economic benefit.

The algorithm helps you save an extra €300–€500 on electricity costs, even though the total amount of electricity purchased remains the same.

Smart Algorithm

What the SmartAlgorithm Does

Our SmartAlgorithm is the intelligent core of the system – a digital energy manager that makes thousands of micro-decisions every day to save you money and maximize your solar investment.

Instead of simply producing electricity, the system thinks ahead. It continuously:

  • Monitors electricity market prices in real time and forecasts next-day fluctuations.

  • Estimates solar energy production based on weather data and daylight hours.

  • Predicts household or business consumption using historical and real-time data.

  • Calculates the optimal charging and discharging schedule for the battery – deciding when to store energy and when to use it.

  • Automatically switches energy sources between solar, battery, and grid to ensure the lowest-cost, most efficient operation.

  • Provides seamless backup power during outages, keeping your essential systems running.

In simple terms, the SmartAlgorithm works like an autopilot for your energy – always choosing the smartest, cheapest and most sustainable option available.
